MARLOES
NYDAM

Marloes Nydam is a Dutch contemporary artist known for her expressive portraits of women.

Creating has always been part of her life. What started as a childhood love for drawing grew into a fulltime career as an artist, where she developed her own signature style that reflects her fascination with texture, layering and emotion.

Women are the heart of her work. Marloes is drawn to their strength, purity and vulnerability. In her paintings she captures this essence, while also leaving space for the viewer to bring in their own feelings and story. Each work becomes a space for reflection, where emotion and interpretation meet and create something new.

Her creative process often starts long before she begins painting. Faces, ideas and compositions build up in her mind first. In the studio she works intuitively, layer by layer, using palette knives to create rich textures and depth.

Materials such as gold leaf, copper leaf and heavy-body acrylic paint add contrast, structure and character to the work.

For Marloes, painting is about what you feel rather than what you see, and about what remains beneath the surface.
