On raw silk, the sleeve of a jacket has been shaped in mohair. In the artwork, loops have been hand-embroidered. The loops start full and close together, gradually appearing lighter as they are embroidered further apart. This creates the illusion of a gradient in the jacket. Eventually, the jacket fades out of the image and into the raw silk.
